Anti-inflammatory Herbs for Arthritis
95If you were born in the baby boomer years when you see the word “herbs,” marijuana might be one of the words that come to mind. Well, medical marijuana is listed as one of the Anti-inflammatory Herbs for Arthritis; however thank goodness it is not the only herb with anti-inflammatory characteristics. Since medical marijuana requires a prescription from a doctor to be legal, I am providing you with links to my research nevertheless, this will not be the main focus within this hub.
Prior to listing the anti-inflammatory natural herbal remedies that my research has revealed that do not require a prescription; let’s take a look at the crippling disease of arthritis. Delve into Google Health and you will learn that arthritis is inflammation of the joints which results in pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movement.
- CDC - Arthritis Home Page
Arthritis is the most common cause of disability in the United States, limiting the activities of nearly 19 million adults. - Arthritis Foundation
The Arthritis Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organization that supports the more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions.
Symptoms and Causes of Arthritis
Please note that rheumatoid arthritis is only one type of arthritis there are over 100 different types of arthritis and the depilating symptoms can be:
- pain and or warmth around a joint
- redness of the skin and or reduced ability to move the joint, and
- stiffness or swelling of one or more joints
Causes of this joint inflammation may occur for numerous reasons including:
- general “wear and tear” on specific joints
- a broken bone and or serious injury to the joints
- an autoimmune disease in which the immune system tricks the body into believing there a foreign body part and attacks the joints in that location, or
- infection which can be caused by viruses or bacteria
The type of treatment one receives is determined by the cause of the arthritis, the severity, which joints are affected and how the condition affects your daily activities. Your doctor should take into consideration your age and occupation as well. There are numerous prescription drugs available to treat arthritis, however if you are like me, and many others you might prefer to explore alternative medicines prior to taking strong prescriptions. For me this is a personal preference that has to do a lot with my heritage of which perhaps I will discuss in another hub, and what happened to my dad. But for now let’s take a look at the numerous places arthritis can attack your body and the anti-inflammatory herbs for arthritis information I’ve discovered.
Doctors’ for Herbal Remedies
Jacob Teitelbaum, MD article titled The 6-Week Arthritis Cure asks,“Don’t want to be one of the over 16,500 Americans who unnecessarily die yearly from arthritis medications?” Of which, I’m sure that most people would prefer not to be a part of such statistics.
Unfortunately, it's been less than a year since my dad died from complications generated from what my family and I believe resulted from too many prescription drugs for arthritis. Hopefully this hub will assist others from having to endure such a tragedy.
Dr. Teitelbaum’s theory about curing arthritis consists of a program devised to decrease inflammation and help to mend the affected joints. The components of his program are:
- To repair the joints by taking a combination of glucosamine sulfate, MSM, and Chondrotin along with a good multi-vitamin.
- To restore function through movement by begin to stretch, exercise, lose weight if necessary, and the application of heat.
- To rule out and treat infections and food allergies, which can cause inflammation and aggravate arthritis symptoms.
- To reverse inflammation by taking natural anti-inflammatory herbs to assist in reducing swelling thus eliminating pain.
Natural Arthritis Herbal Remedies and Foods
I’ve include the video to the right because it reveals that there are numerous ways to reduce inflammation without prescription drugs; one means is by monitoring one's diet. and including anti-inflammatory foods.
Now for the anti-inflammatory herbs remedies that Dr. Teitelbaum recommends are boswellia, willow bark, and cherry. In addition, to those I have discovered there are a few more anti-inflammatory herbs for arthritis:
Boswellia Serrata
Boswellia is a moderately large branching tree found in the dry hilly areas of India. The tree trunk is tapped and a gummy oleoresin is exuded. A purified extract of this resin is used in modern herbal preparations and has anti-inflammatory action much like conventional nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

The ancient herb boswellia has been used for thousands of years to treat conditions that, in recent years, have been found to be caused by inflammation
White willow or Willow bark
The ancient Egyptians used white willow for inflammation. The white willow tree is a native to Europe and Asia. This arthritis herbal remedy can be used instead of ibuprofen or aspirin because it does not appear to be an irritant to the stomach lining.

Cherry
Cherries can be found in America, Europe, and Asia. The University of Michigan researchers have performed a recent study that has revealed that a cherry-enriched diet reduced inflammation markers in animals by up to 50 percent. Other studies have indicated that the anthocyanins in cherries may be beneficial for arthritis, including a range of other inflammatory-related conditions.

Curcumin
The rhizomes of the turmeric plant are boiled for several hours and then dried in hot ovens, and then are ground into a deep orange-yellow powder commonly used as a spice in curries and other South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. It is said to stimulate blood circulation, solves blood clot, is an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent that relieves pain. Curcumin is an active ingredient that has an earthy, bitter, peppery flavor and a mustardy smell.

Ginger
This underground stem or knobby rhizome has been grown in Asia, India, and Arabia since ancient times. It is known to aid digestion, treat an upset stomach, and nausea for more than 2000 years. In recent years it has been found to reduce inflammation. In a study of 261 people with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee, when the ginger extract was used twice a participants experienced less pain and required fewer pain-killing medications.

Devil’s Claw
This herb comes from the southern portion of Africa. The active ingredients are believed to be iridoid glycosides called harpagosides found within the secondary root. The Rheumatology journal published a study that compared devil’s claw extract to the anti-inflammatory prescription drug Vioxx (now off the market, but one of the drugs my dad was on for years). Within six weeks the devil’s claw was deemed as effective as the Vioxx for reducing pain and it also appears to work in the same manner as the Cox-2 anti-inflammatory drugs such as Celebrex (another one of the drugs that my dad took for years).

Comfrey
Comfrey cream – Comfrey is an herb with a plant origin in Asia and Europe. It is a perennial with oblong dark green leaves that is full of vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. Chlorophyll acts as a catalyst, to promote healing within the body and is a valuable blood purifier. Comfrey cream has been taken off the market as an oral supplement however; it can be used as a topical cream containing comfrey extracts.
The herb comfrey contains potentially dangerous levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (a toxic substances) so it is not to be taken orally any longer. Studies have shown that individuals using comfrey extract cream during a three week period showed an improvement in mobility and pain.

Marijuana requires a prescription to use for medical reasons otherwise it is illegal to use. Most of the articles that I read revealed that this herbal drug showed improvement in movement, less pain, better sleep and a reduction in inflammation. However, this drug is still illegal in many states and research is still being done to determine how and what this drug will be prescribed for.

Ending Notes…
In summary I would like to say that the purpose of this hub has been to inform readers that at times there are alternative medicines that can assist an individual through pain and illnesses just as well as prescription drugs. For years doctors, the government, and the FDA have been against herbal medicines. However, within recent years numerous doctors have began researching and recommending some alternative medicines. Personally, I feel blessed to have found a doctor that works with me and meets me half way when it comes to prescription verses herbal drugs.
Please do not view this as a pro herbal remedies and con prescription drugs rant; however in some ways it might should be. Over the years I’ve watched my dad suffer badly with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) I was under the impression that he had been taking some herbal remedies and getting relief from them. However, it was not until he was on his death bed that I realized the numerous harmful prescription drugs he was continuously taking. My dad’s last days were spent bleeding profusely from all major organs because of previous side effects from the medications he had taken over the years.
He spent his last days having numerous blood transfusions and dying a slow painful death as he was taken off of all previous medications that relieved pain and reduced swelling. I am not a doctor, or an herbalist; I am just a daughter that loss her dad way too soon. And the saddest thing is that if my dad had lived through this ordeal, his doctors were talking about possible herbal remedies that could be suggested for him; to assist in elevating the pain and suffering associated with RA. The doctors knew he could NO LONGER be on the prescription drugs that he had been using for so many years. Now that is an example of the full-circle of bureaucratic crap that is centered around natural remedies and alternative medicines.
Common sense to me would have deemed to have Dad on herbal remedies first and used the prescription drugs as emergency alternatives. Anyway, hopefully someone else can benefit from this story. So please keep an open mind to herbal remedies that might have less harmful side effects than some prescription drugs. And by all means whatever you are taking be it prescription or natural herbs take time to research, ask questions, and research some more to find out what the product is doing to your body.

well researched hub Money and it is very useful, thumbs up, and good advice as well, Maita
I have had tremendous benefit from cherry, tart cherry capsules, to be exact. Your hub is on target and I learned new information. Thanks for putting it together so well.
Great, this is another hub that should win the contest. I'm sorry about your father, and probably you are right; drugs have so many contraindications that causing damages is a great possibility. Unfortunately, as the health business is organized in that way, if a doctor gives you herbs he can be sued, if he gives you drugs is not; that's the way it goes. Rated, bookmarked and stumbled.
Wonderful topic and Excellent Content . Thank you for getting this information out . I probably learned more her than I would at a doctor visit .Great stuff.
Thank you!
Ron
As Always Also Rprcarz50 Keep up the Hubbing, Please
Nice Hub I love cherries and have some arthritis sohopefully they will help.
Thanks for the comprehensive article on anti-inflammatory herbs, especially marijuana. It's good to be reminded that nature is a wonderful source of food as well as medicine, if we know where to look.
Thanks for this hub! I never realized Cherry's was a good anti-inflammatory. I suffer from several inflammatory diseases, arthritis being one of them.
I love turmeric....it is the herb of choice for inflammation...have also used it for infections. Nice hub.
Thanks for presenting this Great Hub provided with a lot of information about natural remedies for arthritis. Nowadays, many people are spending large sum of money to come out of this chronic health proplem. This Hub will be certainly helpful for them.
Thank you for the hub! You're absolutely right, we should seek natural remedies as often as possible and avoid as much as possible the drugs and medication. I can say from my own experience that it's life changing!
Thanks again for the advices!
I really appreciate this hub, as someone right here is suffering from some symptoms you stated. Thanks!
Thanks for posting this hub. This is very informative.I am genetically predestined to suffer arthritis. This will serve as reference for a natural remedy option.Good luck!
I read with interest your latest submission about marijuana. I'm of caribbean descent and I listened to many stories from my grandmother and mother of the use of this herb as a tea back in the West Indies. It was used for all sorts of ailments, in particular for pain relief and for soothing nerves, and was ground and infused in a pomade as hair grease. It has many good uses,
Though I am grateful for modern medicine, I have to agree that drugs are too easily pushed. It was only less than a century ago that herbal medicine was still common practice. I am terribly sorry to learn of your fathers death. Thank you for writing such an excellent hub, people need to realize the dangers in these side affects. I am often tempted to pop pain pills when my pain is unbearable, but will always seek out natural alternative beforehand.
Well done, well written. In American (38th on the list of longevity) big business has used a smear campaign against many herbs and pointed only to expensive packaged pills as the only option. Glad to see you standing up for our health! I use cherries for my slight case of gout, I heard black cherries work the best.
Very good info, never even bother about Arthritis before. I wish I can read clearly on the graphic above showing the bones in the human part.
Herbal rememdies are not patentable by big drug companies, therefore they will never be accepted by the powers that be.
Your father's story is unfortunately one of many similar stories. My deepest apologies and appreciation for a great hub.

Interesting article, I've bookmarked this hub. Thanks.
Wow, what a great hub. I've bookmarked it also..
Great info I can use! Thank you
Wow, some wonderful resources here. I've been diagnosed with degenerative, corrosive osteoarthritis .. I used to be on Arthrotec which was wrecking havoc with my stomach. I'm now off due to a natural product. I've tried many ... but not ALL of the resources you mention here.
I am on a product that supports the body's production of glutathione. It's the first supplement I've found that takes the pain AWAY. It's very expensive though .. I'd like to check out some of your recommendations to see if I can find a less expensive natural solution so I can be pain free without being money-free too... LOL
Thanks for writing such a helpful article. Nice to have found YOU!
Blessings!
Mekenzie
Good info! I've known a few people that have regularly taken ginger to help with Arthritis over the years with wonderful results. I know I try to keep my intake high, just in case.
Thanks for sharing informative and helpful hub! Two thumbs up! =)
As a San Francisco chiropractor, I've used a handful of herbs, etc. for inflammation and arthritis over the years. They've often provided SOME success but my goal is physical improvement or cure (as much as possible) rather than just symptom relief. The biggest disappointment has been glucosamine. I am hopefuly about a new form though which I'll be trying this month with patients that is not shellfish derived. Good productive conversation here...sounds like lots of people getting benefit from this post!! Love that.
My pleasure. Navigating the health care waters is obviously a huge task. Good luck to you and others.
great article !
This article was very helpful to me. I gained a lot of knowledge.
Very good article with lots of helpful information. Very nice writing style by the way.
Very educational hub, herbs are fascinating I need to learn more about them.
Interesting. Arthritis sounds so painful and unfortunately it runs in my family. The only problem with using certain herbs to reduce pain and welling is that they're illegal and if your employer drug tests, you can get fired. BeatATest.com has some great detox products to help you cleanse you system so you can pass. Hope that helps. Thank you!
Thanks for some great information. I met my husband 13 years ago shortly after his wife passed away. She died from complications associated with arthritis medications. It was a horrible and painful death.
The worst part is my husband also has severe RA and when we met, he was taking at least three allopathic medications for the pain.
When I showed him alternative herbal supplements, he eventually got off all the drugs and has since slowed the progression of the arthritis to a slow crawl. Compared to previously, his pain is minimal and diminishes rather than increases.
I have brought him through many detox procedures to help remove the chemicals in his system that I believe are the origin of his arthritis, and believe one day his symptoms will diminish to almost nothing.
One supplement I'd like to note, is sea cucumber. This is a powerful anti-inflammatory, and although it's hard to find, it is a lifesaver when dealing with arthritis pain. Give that one a try and see if it helps.
In China it's well-known and taken by many people to help with pain. It's also a popular food over there, although it's rather strange-looking.
Hello this is a great hub. I found it very interesting and I will work on improving my diet. Arthritis runs in my family and my mother suffers badly from it. At 48 this week, I dont have any signs yet which is good but then I am vegetarian!
Great list. I did not notice DMSO...what that in the list? Definitely worth checking out for joint and muscle problems. Not easily found in health food stores but easy to order off the internet. My patients, family, and I have used it successfully for many years.
Hi there Money Glitch. Read your hub and found interest in it. I like the portion where this health problem could be cured by or through the very products of nature itself and in a natural way. I also agree that it is effective since herbal medicines or natural medicines have proven its effectiveness through ages. Nice hub you have here.=)
Thank you for this great info. I've heard that inflammation is at the core of many diseases. This will be beneficial to many.
I really like organic suppliments for any disease. This is good to know herbal suppliments for arthritis. My mom has arthritis. This post may help her.
What a great article, thanks for the information MG. Natural sources are always a welcome alternative. I wish more people would choose natural options.
AJ
interesting and useful. my dad has this pretty bad and I always look for any info to pass along.
Thanks!
Excellent hub. I go by ginger anytime of the day. I even add some flavor to a warm plain water just to get that airy feel. It works wonders for me though. Hub up.
Thanks for the great information. I suffer with joint pain and have used honey and cinnamon, but have never heard of benefits of cherries!
Thanks for the well written and well presented info. A short time ago I tried over the counter medication and felt ill within hours. Hoping to build up the tolerence, I tried for a few days, only getting sicker, and decided the pain in the joints was better. I look forward to trying some of these home remedies and reporting back. Thanks!
Wow. Lots of useful information here. I fowarded this to my mom. She'll be happy.
Wow! This is an awesome post! I know 2 people with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I'll make sure to spread the word to them!
Outstanding hub! I am impressed with the many different options herbally that are among us. You covered the topic really well. I also appreciate the pro's & con's of medical weed. Thank you writing on this important subject. As always, I enjoy your articles.
I appreciate your ability to put together a profitable page. Wish I could do the same.
Shealy
Not an herb but apparently pomegranata can help with arthritis too !
Great hub packed full of detailed and useful information! Highly recommended for anyone with Arthritis.
I think that we should do everything we can, not to use drugs. I believe that we can eat right, exercise and use mind over matter. People think that I am crazy because I do not go to the doctor for every twing.
It is easier for a lot of people to believe more in medicine than herbs. They believe medicine cure, and herbs are just supplements. However, when the sub effects emerged from long term taking medicine, it is often too late to do something about it... *sigh*
I enjoyed this article very much. It covers a broad range of herbal pain relievers. I personally add Turmeric to many of my foods. Thank you.
nice informaion dear!!!
I have also written some words on Arthritis!!
http://healthytlife4all.blogspot.com on this blog I have added some information regarding same topic, please visit and comment on this.
Hi Money Glitch
this hub is really full of very useful informations about herbs and their applications and I am particularly feeling very pleased to see that most of them are readily available here apart from the one called 'Devils claw',and in this time of the year, there are so many marijuana plants around my place.Grand hub,a treat to read.Thank you.
Very very informative. Especially the video part. Good Job
I think that regular physical therapy before a patient losses their mobility also helps. This should be covered by most medicare plans. Although, I know it is more of a preventative, good diet and exercise is important before the chronic pain of arthritis sets in.
GREAT & USEFUL HUB!!
Hi!
This hub was really informative! I talked about the benefits of hydrotherapy in my first hub about hot tubs in Korea. Hot tubs really help arthritis sufferers to become buoyant in the tub and get extra relief on their sore joints. In fact, the Arthritis Foundation recommends the use of hot tubs!
This is great information. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge - Really helpful info! and well done
You have provided a wealth of information here. The videos are great, as well. Thank you.
Wow, there is quite a wealth of information here. Thanks! I've also heard of people having good results by taking 2 daily supplements of GLA (i.e. borage oil) AND fish oil. From what I understand, if you take BOTH of these, it helps block the inflammation marker Arachridonic Acid (hope I spelt that right).
You put a lot of work and research into this article. Well done. My dad (in his late seventies) uses my mom's homemade comfrey cream to help relieve his arthritis aches and pains, and the pain he feels due to having Pagets disease too.
You're welcome :)
- I'm not sure if comfrey (a herb that looks a bit like spinach) perhaps grows only in South Africa, because now that I think about it, I've come across one or two other people outside of South Africa who have not heard about it. It helps our family with all sorts of ailments, not just my dad's arthritis.
great hub
I hope I never get arthritis hah, this is all pretty confusing. But I have been one to advocate the natural herbal remedies so I am going to save a lot of this for future reference, I hope you come out with more hubs like this! :D
very helpfull and intersting i never pot was good for arthritous
Very helpful. My partner suffers with RA and the more information that's available the better.
Very nice. Keep it up.
i only clicked on this because i read herb, my joints are always on fire.. :]
I just clicked on a great sounding hub and it happened to be yours. You did it again! Another great hub! I especially liked your comment about trying natural first, exactly! It's unfortunate that we have to be sooo careful about how we word things. All medication damages the liver, even aspirin and aspirin substitutes because the liver has to process all medication. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease (as you said) where the immune system attacks the tissues inside of the joints. It has been linked to systemic yeast build-up and leaky gut syndrome, but of course it would be because both conditions overwork and confuse the immune system. Eliminating these conditions is only a start, and although reducing the inflammation will stop some of the suffering, it doesn't make healing take place. The immune system and adrenal function must be corrected or you will just be treating the symptoms. There is hope in recovery in all stages of every disease as long as there is a functioning liver. First, scarring and any other blockage (including inflammation, tumors) has to be addressed, then every nutrient has to be supplied. This will heal you eventually. To speed the healing process you can also look for and treat specific deficiencies, lessen the immune system's burden and supply foods with healing factors. I am very sorry for any suffering you and yours have endured.
I have rheumatoid arthritis @ age 35- not even had it a year yet. The number one reason people take prescriptions drugs before trying natural is time constraints. First, my dr said the only thing shown to help RA is quick intervention, the earlier, the better chances of not having deformity or other issues (RA can attack organs as well). I tried natural stuff, even food sensitivity diet first for 5 months until I couldn't take the pain anymore. I couldn't do anything- barely get on and off a toilet or walk the length of a grocery store. It was one day i went grocery shopping and got to the other end of the sore and was in so much pain Istarted crying because I didn't think I could take the pain of walking back through the store to the exit. i am currently on the evi Prednisone, just so I can walk and sleep (that's a whole other issue when you have RA pain). It's the pain that drives people to prescrips, natural is a crap shoot or a gamble. It's expensive and may not work and can take months to see any results. I didn't have months to be bed-ridden. I am a stay-at-home mom with a 2 yr old who depends on me a lot. I have not taken pescrips specifically for RA because I am trying other natural things. I take prednisone (streroid med) because i have to walk and live basically, but if a natural treatment starts working then I would be better able to know because I could reduce my prednisone dosage without RA effects coming back. I am on lowest dosage I can without being bed-ridden, which means I put up with always swollen hands and loss of range of motion already in one elbow, etc. Most dr's would put it to an RA patient this way: either take RA meds and have a better quality of life but perhaps not live as long OR don't take RA meds and end up in a wheelchair (less quality) but you may live longer. It's quality vs. quantity. Since my daughter is young I have a hard decision. What would you do?
Here is my personal experience with RA. http://hubpages.com/hub/My-Definition-of-Rheumatoi Maybe you can understand why people choose quick treatments like presrcip meds. Oddly enough I was raised on all natural things and it is deeply ingrained in me to live naturally but people with RA have tough choices. I know exactly what your dad felt like. I am sory for your loss by the way.
Your dad was lucky to have mild symptoms for years. I went from one swollen finger to my whole body almost unable to move all within 5 months.
One question I have for you, if you don't think people should follow dr's orders in your dad's and possibly most RA patients, then why do you make a statement that doctors are known to: "your daughter might inherit the traits toward the disease". Most research I've ben doing say that it's not heredtary, but genetic and yes there's a difference. No one in my family had RA. However, my STEP grandma had it and she had 30+ grand and great grand DAUGHTERS (as it's most common in women), none with RA.I don't believe the hereditary aspect because I belong to online RA communities and no one I've met had relatives with it. The only thing after doing my research that I can see, is that my daughter may have a greater propensity to have an autoimmune disorder in general. I've done the research and studies that try to link heritage are about as relaible as the studies that state RA patients need to go on major RA prescrips right away. Heritage is just another thing doctors say, the same ones that say a bunch of other bull too.
I was searching for information about this subject. thanks. It's very informative and I loved the images and videos you collected.
Great hub... thanks for the useful info.
Money Glitch what is your background in herbs. or did you just do research on the internet
Very helpful hub indeed! Curcumin or yellow ginger tea works for me, my mom and other people in the neighborhood suffering from joint pain who do not want to rely on prescription drugs...very effective :)
hey nice info you will posted its very useful to people thanks for this hub... :)
Thanx for the info
I really enjoyed this one. Great hub!
very informative and useful I know lots of people with the ailment and will refer them to this site. Thanks for the info.

Great information about Anti-inflammatory Herbs for arthritis. Thanks for sharing the great stuff!
very interesting stuff, quick question can this help with gout as my mom suffers from it?
WOW, what a huge hub full of quality informations, no wonder it has such a nice score! Keep up the good work!
What a hub your obviously very well researched in what you publish.
Great well researched hub, no wonder it is top of the hubs! I will know where to look if I get arthritis.
Thanks for this great hub, it is very well-written, and extremely informative. I rated it UP and USEFUL!!! Keep up the great work!
Jenny
Wow, very informative! Thank you for sharing it with us. Great job!!!
Great hub with many options. I've had arthritis for years (I'm 31 now) and not only do meds scare me, but they don't really work. Will look into these treatments. Thanks!
My observation from the advice given in this hub is that in general the food/herbs are alkalizing. In my experience, alkalizing has done the best for my arthritis compared with any drug. My first test was drinking lots of alkalized water (PH around 11.0), consuming zeolite (powder & liquid) and increasing my raw food intake. Dr Robert Young's "PH Miracle" program is to go with a 100% alkaline diet for 9 weeks, and then switch to 80% alkaline and 20% acid.
I now also use bicarb soda and lemon juice each day, in order to make sure I keep an alkaline system. In addition I consume a lot of organic quinoa (a "superfood") with my raw food.
Great Hub. My wife has arthritis and we have been looking for some alternative treatments to the standard prescription NSAID pain killers.
Very informative hub about anti-inflammatory herbs for Arthritis,I do not have the arthritis yet,But it does give me some insights to help me in the future,Thanks a lot!
informative article
Thank you for this very pertinent piece of information. I will be visiting my nearest herbal store in the very near future; like tomorrow. At the moment I've stopped taking the prescription medications and I've been doing yoga and walking but some days are better than others.
Thank you for this informative hub :)
You saved the best for last:

I take celebrex, but I'll have to try some of these herbs that Big Pharma seems to ignore. Thanks again! :)

This is a very informative hub, with too much information to get it all the first time through! Thanks for the great wirting!
Seriously great work. So informative Thanks again!
Thank you for this very pertinent piece of information. I will be visiting my nearest herbal store in the very near future; like tomorrow. At the moment I've stopped taking the prescription medications and I've been doing yoga and walking but some days are better than others.
I need to look into a lot of your suggestions! My mother and grandmother had very bad arthritis in their hands. I've been worried that I will follow, but so far so good. I do, however, have arthritis in one of my knees which flares up from time to time and is very painful....
I like a lot of your tips! Thanks!
Although just 35,I often feel the effects of my days as an athlete and my "Jackass" like endeavors long before the acts were made famous by the show.Great suggestions here Money Glitch(should I lace my joints with a cherry ginger mixture for better results?,lol!)
This is an amazing hub! Your passion for your topics really show in your hubs.
Very good hub. Thanks for taking the time to include so much information.
Hi MG,
Great hub! I am a medical doctor and to see such a comprehensive review about Arthritis and natural remedies here is really brilliant! Keep it up and make more such informative hubs!
Nice day,
Dr Raj Gopal. V. Oh, BTW as I am commenting for the first time on your hub I have used my full name but in future if you are addressing me or I comment on your hub Raj will do!
Yeesh... that first picture of Rheumatoid arthritis kinda weirded me out!
This Hub is very informative and helpful... as someone who knows many people with arthritis, this knowledge means a lot to me. Thanks for sharing!
This hub is very ethical.
Hello Money Glitch....
Now I see what I have been missing, not joining this great community long ago. Keep up the good work and I want you to know that you need not go to rural development centers or villages or little communities before you render community services. What you have done here is truly more than enough. Well informative and very clear and transparent. I will be hoping to read more of your hubs.
Great hub I must say....
All my joints around my shoulder are giving too much of pain and I can feel inflammation around them. Are these symptoms are of Arthritis? When I wake up I will not have any pains but will have low inflammation. But by evening the inflammation increases too much and gives too much of pain? Does this show me to have arthritis?
Very thorough! THanks for the helpful info. One might think science is a bit more advanced for arthritic cures today. Wishful and hopeful thinking :)
Just great!
Even without marijuana, all mentioned herbs are extremely helpful in addition to diet. Marijuana works on the way that activates endorphines in brain so pain ceases, but does not have anti-inflammatory properties.
Thank you for great Hub!
Very useful information and I like the lean away from prescribed drugs which cause more harm than good.
The answer is always natural and non toxic!
Nice hub on this very painful condition. A lot of info here on natural remedies. Thanks.
It's true that herbal medicines will help.Lot's of people nowadays are trusting herbal medicines.
Interesting with some good info on the herbs.
@sonyericson - yeah right. I very much agree with you. Because herbal medicines are much cheaper and natural. You're sure that no chemicals are added.

Mom used to make us drink comfrey tea so this brought back memories. Thanks for the info. very valuable. Another nice informative hub!
This information is very helpful, thanks Money Glitch. job well done and informative too.
Love your hub!
Some of the best herbs are the scariest looking plants. I wonder about the first person that thought to themselves, "wow that plant looks awesome to eat"... :)
Great Hub
Nice hub. I haven't heard about many of these but my understanding is that when you dry ginger you change the chemistry of it and it has different properties for healing. When you dry it you form shogaols which is a compound that has a more powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. So people with arthritis and other inflammatory ailments may get much more benefit for dried ginger or powdered ginger than from fresh.
An excellent and comprehensive post. I was sorry to read at the the end that your dad was afflicted with this awful crippler. I have been reading you long enough to know that you are always detailed, thorough and accurate, so no surprise that I have bumped into another good piece by you. Very Best, Linda
I think it is a rheumatic disease that is very disturbing. And one of the alternative medicine for that is Habatussauda (nigella sativa). Do you want to get one with the spesial price? I am in Nganjuk, Eastern of Java, Indonesia. visit our store....
Great info, it is helpful, thanks for sharing. :)
This has to be one of the most impressive hubs I have seen. You have obviously put tons of work into it.
I would like to add something useful. In addition to the valuable herbs and spices, there are many everyday foods that have strong anti-inflammatory properties, including vegetables (particularly green leaf vegetables like spinach - Popeye knew a thing or two!), fish and fruit.
You can see a comprehensive list at:
www.stoparthritispain.co.uk
I love this hub! this is great info. I think a good anti-inflammatory is a type of vegan diet or raw food diet. You can add this with the herbs and if you do this everyday, you can prevent it.
I really appreciate your post and you explain each and every point very well. Thanks for sharing this information. And I’ll love to read your next post too.
Regards

Thanks for this information. I am a believer in herbal remedies.
This is a well reearched hub. Sorry about the loss of your dad. Indeed, herbal medicines are useful and effective treatment of various sicknesses. Thanks for sharing.
Alkaline water provides an antioxidant and electron rich medium for consumption, and the acidic water provides oxidizing water that works like an antibacterial and cleanser for external use.
Good information and great hub...
Turmeric is actually working very well for my arthritis pain. Great tips.
Herbs are great for so many things. I get a lot of use and benefit from my herb garden every year.
Ginger really works great in arthritis. I have seen its effects. Thanks for sharing this great hub. i like it.
I've use Synflex liquid glucosamine chondroitin as an arthritis treatment for years. The 1500 has white willow bark in it. I'm considering giving the Pet kind to my dog... Jack is almost 13 and is having a harder time getting around. http://www.synflexamerica.com
Nice article. thanks for sharing this. It's helpful for me.
Great info. My mother has RA and I will recommend this article to her. I certainly do not want the same thing to happen to her that happened to your dad. Thanks :)

This information is very helpful, thanks Money Glitch. A recent study of marijauna in the UK revealed that although the use of the herb has increased the incidence of schizophrenia in the population has not changed accordingly indicating the old argument might be invalid.
